An artist at work

Hugo wasn't very hungry at lunch. While I was busy clearing up, he decided to lay his food out on the arm of the chair. Very artistic.

First steps

Hugo took his first few steps on Wednesday. He has been busy practising and here he is on Sunday.

Leisurely lunch

We spent most of the day doing what we like best, having a long and leisurely lunch. It was a fantastic day. Everything came together, the children behaved perfectly, the weather was lovely and the wine and food were gorgeous.
Hugo is fascinated by 'up there' - fans, aeroplanes, ceilings, anything.

We'll definitely be going back. There was a lovely big field to run around in, with toys provided, to keep the children entertained.

Birthday present

Grand sent Daisy some birthday money and she bought a remote control car - she's very pleased with it. So is Scott - it's the start of buying toys he wants to play with too.

Tooth fairy

Daisy has lost her first tooth - a bit prematurely. She fell over running around in the park with a friend which must have loosened her tooth because it fell out later in the day, possibly while she was eating dinner. We couldn't find the tooth, so the tooth fairy got an IOU. We were caught unprepared. How much does the tooth fairy give these days? She gave four 50c coins (the biggest and therefore most attractive). Is that stingy or too generous, I've no idea. But Daisy was very impressed.

Party tea

We went to Auntie Julie's for a birthday barbie. It was lovely to be in her beautiful garden.

Birthday zoo outing

Scott had the day off work, so we all went to the zoo for Daisy and Hugo's birthday. Daisy has been wanting to hire a wagon, so finally as a birthday treat she got to be pulled around the zoo in her chariot.

Hugo was very keen on the monkeys

and fascinated by the butterflies. Daisy still hates them. We had to make a hasty exit just after this photo because Daisy started to panic when butterflies tried to land on her.

Party time

Daisy and Hugo, well mostly Daisy, had an Indonesian party with shadow puppets, music and becak rides.
They got to have a go with the puppets behind the scenes.
And Hugo enjoyed the music

The cake was popular.

Day out

We had a lovely family day out at the Healesville sanctuary.

The nook

This is Daisy's nook, where important arts and crafts activities take place. Hugo is not usually welcome. Daisy has tidied up for him and he's enjoying being allowed in, while Daisy trims blu tac out of the carpet.

Exciting new toy

This is an old toy of Daisy's which ran out of batteries. We finally got round to replacing them. Hugo thinks it's fab.

Bike riding

My first bike ride in a long time. This is a pic of our local shops and the path along the creek. We bought Hugo a bike hat this weekend, so next time we can all cycle.

Breezy beach

I seem to have been a bit slack with the blog. Hugo is sleeping really badly and we seem to be spending all evening popping in to pat him - hence no relaxation time and no blog. But I wanted to get these photos up. We had some lovely spring weather last weekend and went down to Barwon Heads for a play in the sand and a fish and chip picnic. It was a bit breezy but it didn't stop Daisy playing in the water.

Then we popped into Point Lonsdale on the way back to have a look at the rock pools.

Face painting

I finally gave in to Daisy's face painting requests. If you can guess what she is, you can take her for a walk...

Gardening

Scott spent last weekend doing a bit of gardening. He's dug up the old flower bed infront of our decking (which didn't seem to have anything interesting growing in it) to make room for our table. It's now much more inviting to go outside to eat and it leaves the deck clear for Daisy and Hugo to play.

Bouncing

Everyone enjoyed a session bouncing on Nana's bed at Claire's 2nd birthday party.
